The Xperia 1 V teasers themselves manifested in the form of posters that were posted on billboards, in and around the island city of Hong Kong. One Redditor and quite obviously, a fan of the Sony Xperia lineup, took a picture of it to share online. The copy on the billboard reads “One for all Lights” in English, while the Chinese text at the bottom more or less translates into “the next-gen double low-noise camera sensor”.
That last bit may be alluding to the new Sony IMX989 sensor that the company is reportedly making the main camera sensor for the Xperia 1 V, as well as the phone’s new low-noise mode (LN2) that will also be used in tandem with a Multi-Camera Synchronisation System (MCSS). However, it is also being speculated that it could simply uses the older IMX858 sensor, given how it is the only platform that supports the latter two photography features. The mention of LN2 is actually new and sheds some light on how Sony intends to market the Xperia 1 V. Basically, the feature is an implementation of a new architecture, based on CMOS technology. Instead of applying photodiodes and pixel transistors on the same substrate and plane, though, the architecture is now stacked one on top of the other. This then expands the dynamic range of the sensor and, as is the goal, allows more light in and reduces noise levels. And that’s it for the billboard and additional information on LN2. As for the internal hardware of the Xperia 1 V, previous reports suggest that the phone will be running on Qualcomm’s current flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 8 Gen2, 16GB RAM, and 5000mAh battery, which is appears to be the standard these days.
