Now that Riot Games’ own servers have launched, the company says that players can now look forward to being a part of the ecosystem. Primarily, this means playing LoL and TFT on the company’s own client, alongside the other games that it makes. This also means being able take part cross-franchise events that was previously available due to the co-publishing deal with Garena. Incidentally, this also means that Riot is now publishing all five of its own titles, which also includes Valorant, League of Legends: Wild Rift, and Legends of Runeterra. To celebrate the relaunch of both LoL and TFT, Riot has also announced that the rolling ranked season will start on 10 January. There’s also a Welcome Event starting on 13 January, which the company frames as a chance for players to earn Tokens, which can then be exchanged for skin shards, legendary eggs, and Ultimate skins. Said date will also be when the game’s Lunar New Year event starts. Specifically for LoL, Riot Games is giving players in the SEA region a chance to unlock all champions released between 2009 and 2021 for free, just by completing in-game missions. The publisher says that this is in honour of the original launch of the game in the region all those years ago.
