Unlike the Nothing ear (1) and the more recent Ear (stick), the Particles by XO earbuds do away with the transparent design language and instead opts for simple shiny white. The earbuds are oddly shaped like peanuts, which wouldn’t be the most jarring design choice coming from Nothing, but it is certainly a departure from what its fans have been familiar with so far. With the unique shape, it’s not exactly clear whether the body should point upwards or downwards towards the mouth when being worn. That being said, the latter would make more sense as both ends of the peanut shape end seem to have what look like microphones. The different design could be the reason why the firm is choosing to launch the earbuds under this purported new brand. It’s unknown exactly if the whole title is the name of a particular set of earbuds or the name of a new sub-brand itself, but it would be the first for Nothing as it previously released its first two headsets under the company’s branding. As for the specs, the 91mobiles report claims that Nothing’s servers confirm that the Particles by XO earbuds will feature Low Latency High-Definition audio codec (LHDC) as well as Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). The set is also apparently codenamed “B154” while the upcoming Nothing ear (2) is codenamed B155. The report suggests that the sub-brand could be geared towards the US market as it has already been trademarked in the country under a shell company. So far, Nothing has not revealed any official details about the new brand or product. (Source: 91mobiles)
