Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, HONOR once again has opted for the 6.81-inch OLED LTPO display with curved edges for the Magic5 Pro. In fact, the display on the new model has the same resolution at 1312 x 2848 and 120Hz Smart Refresh Rate capability although its PWM dimming rate is much higher at 2160Hz as opposed to Magic4 Pro’s 1920Hz.

In addition to that, the brightness level of the Magic5 Pro display can go as high as 1800 nits. HONOR has also once again added a dedicated display chipset into its new flagship phone which provides the device with Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation (MEMC) enhancements as well as SDR to HDR and HDR to HDR10+ conversation. Moving on to its photography hardware, the Magic5 Pro still carries a 50MP primary camera although it has received some upgrades including an f/1.6 lens and a 1/1.12-inch sensor. As for its periscope telephoto camera, HONOR has chosen the Sony IMX858 sensor which has a lower resolution at 50MP as compared to Magic4 Pro’s 64MP but the camera still retains the 3.5x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom capabilities.

The Magic5 Pro also continue to feature a 50MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.0 lens and a 122-degree field of view. On the other hand, the rear camera module also now has a multi-spectrum colour temperature sensor alongside the dTOF laser focus and flicker sensors which were already present in Magic4 Pro. The phone also features an upgraded HONOR Image Engine which apparently helped improve the responsiveness of the Magic5 Pro’s rear camera system. Meanwhile, selfies are being handled by a 12MP f/2.4 fixed-focus camera on the top left corner part of the phone’s screen which is also paired with a 3D depth camera.

Completing the Magic5 Pro’s general specification is a 5100mAh battery. Interestingly, HONOR has toned down the HONOR SuperCharge capability on this year’s model to 66W wired and 50W wireless – significantly lower than the Magic4 Pro which can go up to 100W regardless of wired or wireless. Moving on to the non-Pro variant of the Magic5 which is also powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the model is equipped with a slightly smaller OLED display at 6.73-inch although still has LTPO technology that allows it to deliver dynamic refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Other display features from the Pro made their way to the non-Pro variant too such as curved edges, 2160Hz PWM dimming, and a peak brightness level of 1600 nits.

Not surprisingly, the non-Pro variant features a different set of rear camera system which includes 54MP f/1.9 primary camera and 32MP f/2.4 telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom as well as 50x digital zoom capabilities. Similar to its Pro counterpart, the rear camera module also has a 50MP f/2.0 122-degree FOV ultra-wide camera. While the module still has colour temperature and flicker sensors alongside an upgraded HONOR Image Engine, the laser focus sensor is absent from the device though. Likewise, the selfie camera on the non-Pro Magic5 continues to feature a 12MP f/2.4 fixed focus setup but is not accompanied by a 3D depth sensor.

The standard Magic5 model also comes with a 5100mAh battery and supports 66W HONOR SuperCharge wired charger. Unfortunately, the wireless charging feature has been omitted from the device. When it comes to pricing, the Magic5 Pro with 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage is going for EUR1,199 (~RM5,676) in the European market. The non-Pro model which offers 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage is priced at EUR899 (~RM4,264) instead.

At the moment, the company has yet to announce the Magic5 Series availability date and local pricing for Malaysia. Nevertheless, HONOR has confirmed to Lowyat.NET that the series is indeed coming to our market and more details will be announced very soon.
