Today, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg shared a piece of important information about the headset. As per him, Apple will issue several health warnings to users, asking them not to buy or use the headset if they are suffering from certain conditions like ADHD, anxiety disorders, a pacemaker, and more.
Is Apple’s AR/VR headset safe to use?
“Apple is also discussing notifying potential customers with certain conditions that they should not buy or use the device due to the impact AR and VR may have on their health. That includes people with Meniere’s Disease, past traumatic brain injuries, post-concussion syndrome, migraines and vertigo,” tweeted Gurman. In the thread, he further added more health conditions that Apple will warn against. “If you’re prone to inner ear infections, have ADHD/ADD, anxiety disorders, a pacemaker, epilepsy, blackouts/seizures or are pregnant, you may be warned against using the headset. In addition to Meniere’s disease, past traumatic brain injuries, post-concussion syndrome, migraines.” When a user in the thread questioned whether is it normal for other AR/VR headset manufacturer companies to issue health warnings for their products or if Apple’s headset is beyond immersive, Gurman said that it is standard practice. Gurman also said that Apple is one of the companies which are most cautious and proactive about the safety of its users which is why the headset will arrive with a number of warnings. If we are to compare these health warnings with Meta Quest Pro, which is a direct competitor of Apple’s AR/VR headset, it also comes with a piece of similar advice against the use of the device if you have certain conditions. “Consult with your doctor before using your VR System if you are pregnant, elderly, have pre-existing binocular vision abnormalities or psychiatric disorders, have recently undergone any medical procedure (including cosmetic procedures), or suffer from a heart condition or other serious medical condition,” warns Meta. Apple might not mince words like Meta while issuing health warnings to users. It is very likely that the AR/VR device will arrive with a strongly worded warning, asking users to avoid the usage of the device in the event of specific conditions.
