While it is understandable that the tradeoff has been made to reduce the weight of the device, some are concerned that the wired headset would hinder the remote capabilities of the headset. Now, a Twitter user has pointed out that the external battery on Vision Pro could be swapped and Apple might sell it as an accessory at the launch, which is due next year. DuanRui on Twitter highlighted the Vision Pro’s battery and said that it has a small hole similar to what’s found on iPhones to eject SIM cards. This suggests that Vision Pro’s battery can be detached by poking through the hole using a SIM ejector tool and a new battery can be placed. While some argue that the small hole is an LED indicator for battery charging status, if we look closely at the battery pack, there seem to be two small holes. It cannot be ruled that Apple could devise a swappable battery design for Vision Pro. Another reason why we believe that Vision Pro has a swappable battery is a small cutout around the wire where it is connected to the battery pack. This could be similar to HomePod where you can plug in and plug out the power cable as per your convenience. While a swappable battery is a great idea to help users extend the battery life on the device from mere two hours, but selling swappable battery packs as an additional accessory with the already pricey headset would not sit well with many people. Also, a swappable battery would mean that users will have to power down the device to swap batteries as it does not have any internal power source to keep it powered during the swapping process. This could be another deal breaker for many prosumers. Apple showcased the fully immersive capabilities of Vision Pro by a man watching a movie on a flight. However, most movies extend the two hour mark these days. Therefore, it would not make much sense to use the device for such experiences. It seems that Apple is yet to reveal a lot about Vision Pro yet and we are expecting the company to slowly divulge more details in the coming months before its launch in early next year.
