MacRumors reports that Apple is preparing iOS 16.5.1 as evident from their website’s analytics logs last week. Since iOS 16.5.1 will be a minor update, it will mostly bring bug fixes to fix some issues and improve the overall user experience of iPhone users.

Bug fixes in iOS 16.5.1

One of the major bug fixes that will be bundled in the iOS 16.5.1 update is the fix for Apple’s Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter not working. The useful accessory stopped working after the iOS 16.5 update.  Apple’s Lightning to USB 3 camera adapter is used for connecting devices like cameras, microphones, and other devices using the USB port. The Lightning port is also used by some users for charging their iPhones or iPads. With iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 updates the dongle is no longer working as per multiple users. Another major fix that Apple needs to roll out on priority is the quick draining of iPhone battery for iOS 16.5 users. Some users have also reported that the Weather app is displaying incorrect information and the WiFi connection disrupts abruptly. Apple addressed the Lightning to USB dongle not working issue and fixed it in iOS 16.6 beta. Whereas, there are no fixes yet available for other known issues. Also, iOS 16.6 release is a few weeks away and therefore, it is now assumed that iOS 16.5.1 will bring the much-needed fixes to offer a respite to users on an immediate basis. MacRumors is not the only publication that has reported that iOS 16.5.1 is in the works. BGR has reported that it has seen an insider’s note with iOS 16.5.1 referred to under the build number 20F74. While it is not known exactly when Apple will release iOS 16.5.1 but the software update is expected to arrive by this week or next week. Meanwhile, Apple released the first iOS 17 developer beta with some notable features like StandBy mode, interactive widgets on the home screen, a new Journal app, health-focused features, and more. iOS 17 is not expected to be released before Apple’s fall event where it will unveil new iPhones.
